About the BCSEA and Cool It!

Who We Are

The BC Sustainable Energy Association (BCSEA) is a volunteer-based, registered charity that supports the sustainable production, distribution, and consumption of energy in British Columbia and beyond. The association collaborates with governments, industry, universities and other institutions, other non-governmental organizations, and citizens to put in place the conditions needed to accelerate the province’s transition to a lower-carbon economy.

Cool It! Climate Leadership Training

The Cool It! Climate Leadership Training program is a BC Sustainable Energy Association program that has been working with BC youth for over ten years. The program develops and empowers young sustainability champions throughout British Columbia.

Cool It! is an interactive climate education workshop and contest for students in grades 4 to 7 and for high school classes. In each workshop, our Environmental Educators use games, quizzes and discussion to build on students’ knowledge of climate change and taking action.

Following the workshop, students work on this four-week Cool It! Challenge that encourages families to make easy but important changes to their energy consumption. Through this online challenge, students and their families are challenged to initiate life-long behaviour changes in order to reduce their carbon footprint.

Students and classes who reduce their carbon footprint's the most have the opportunity to win prizes and receive acknowledgement for their achievements at City Council meetings in their community.
